It is our responsibility to fulfil the dreams of Babasaheb and our freedom fighters. This was stated by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi while attending a Republic Day event at Chhatrasal Stadium here on Saturday.

She highlighted the strides made by the Delhi Government in key areas such as free electricity and water, significant investments in education and healthcare and free travel for 11 lakh women daily.

“It is our responsibility to fulfil the dreams of our freedom fighters and Babasaheb. Our Constitution envisions equal opportunities and the Delhi Government is working tirelessly to make this a reality,” she said.

“Government schools earlier operated in dilapidated buildings. Children sat on tattered mats and basic amenities like clean drinking water were missing. Children of poor families didn’t get access to quality education, leading to poverty. This was not the dream of our freedom fighters or Babasaheb Ambedkar. To break this cycle, the Delhi Government brought transformative changes in the field of education,” she said.

“We built modern school buildings, introduced computer labs and sent teachers abroad for training,” the CM said.

Over the past 10 years, not only power infrastructure, but also Delhi’s roads, flyovers, Metro and buses witnessed rapid development.

“Freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, Lala Lajpat Rai and Chandrashekhar Azad thought not for themselves but for the country. Their sacrifices give me goosebumps,” she said.

The AAP leader highlighted India’s transformative journey and the role of the Constitution, drafted under the leadership of BR Ambedkar, in ensuring equal rights for all citizens.

“Together, we will secure a bright future for our children, empower our women and care for our elderly,” she concluded.
