“The blood sample report of the accused has been reported to be negative for alcohol,” the police said.

Moreover, her judicial custody ends on Wednesday and the matter is likely to be heard by the court as she has sought a bail claiming that the accident was unintentional.

Makkad (38) was arrested on Monday and the Patiala House Court remanded her to two-day judicial custody.

She was produced before Duty Magistrate Akanksha Singh at her residence by the Delhi Police. The court has also issued a notice to the Delhi Police on her bail application, which will be heard on September 17. She is scheduled to be produced in court on the same date.

“The incident was wholly accidental and in no manner attributable to any intention or negligence on the part of the applicant. No offence has been committed by the applicant,” her bail plea stated.

Makkad claimed to have “fully cooperated” with the authorities and had no reason to evade the process of law.

“Besides, she is currently under medical care and willing to assist the police in every possible manner, including joining the investigation, when required. The custodial interrogation of the applicant is neither warranted nor necessary, as the case arises out of an unfortunate accident,” the bail plea added.

The plea said Makkad had sustained a head injury in the accident and continues to remain under medical care.

Gaganpreet’s husband joins probe

Late on Tuesday, the police questioned Gaganpreet’s husband, Parikshit Kakkar, who joined the investigation. The police said Parikshit told them he could not understand how the accident happened. He said Gaganpreet spoke of taking victims to the hospital and that he himself booked a taxi and left for the hospital. The police said they would corroborate the statement of Parikshit.
