A gang of six persons posing as Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) in the Railways was busted by the Delhi Police on Friday. The gang’s modus operandi involved enticing innocent labourers, workers and individuals in low-paying jobs who were traveling back to their hometowns with their hard-earned money.

On February 4, the police received a complaint alleging that a group of five to six individuals had deceived the complainant of his hard-earned cash and belongings while he was en route to the railway station.

Vichitra Veer, DCP for West district, stated, “The complainant was approached by four men at the railway station who claimed to be traveling to Bihar as well.”

After gaining the complainant’s trust, one of the accused informed him that a relative working as a TTE in the Railways could assist them in securing reserved seats for their journey. The police recovered 30 smartphones and 19 luggage bags from the perpetrators’ possession.
