Gangster Neeraj Bawana meets ailing wife on parole, returns to jail
Jailed gangster Neeraj Bawana, who was granted parole for a day to visit his ailing wife at a west Delhi hospital on Tuesday, returned to Tihar Jail at 4 pm, an official said.
He reached the hospital under multiple security layers, and over 15 Delhi Police personnel were seen guarding him.
"He was brought to the hospital in a van, and the entire route from Tihar Jail to the hospital was first checked...to avoid any kind of gang war-like situation," a police source said.
The source further stated that the police had increased security both outside and inside the hospital.
The court had allowed Bawana to meet his wife from 10 am to 4 pm. His wife is undergoing treatment due to a nerve blockage in the brain.
Bawana is considered a high-risk prisoner. He has been in jail since 2015 in connection with multiple murder cases. In total, 28 cases are registered against the gangster, a police source said.
"A prolonged gang war has been ongoing, with rival gangs including the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Kala Jathedi, Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang and Neetu Daboda gang. After meeting his wife, he was shifted back to the jail," said the source.
Last year, in March, jailed gangster Sandeep alias Kala Jatheri was granted custody parole for his wedding on March 12.
Recently, the Delhi court allowed a plea of Jatheri seeking interim custody parole for undergoing medical procedure regarding in-vitro fertilisation treatment.
