Get 10 pc rebate on property tax payment till July 31
In a significant relief for taxpayers, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has extended 10 per cent rebate on property tax payments till July 31. The decision was among several citizen-centric resolutions passed during the first meeting of the MCD Standing Committee held at the Civic Centre on Friday.
The meeting, chaired by Standing Committee chairperson Satya Sharma, saw active participation from members who raised various civic issues, particularly concerning monsoon preparedness.
Addressing the media, Sharma said: “This first meeting marks a productive beginning. Nearly 25 agenda items were cleared today. We have ensured that monsoon preparedness is stronger than last year, with new pumps installed, dedicated WhatsApp groups for real-time updates and fully functional helpline numbers across all zones.”
She said officials had been directed to resolve the issues raised in the meeting promptly and present an action taken report (ATR) in the next meeting.
However, AAP leader Ankush Narang criticised the committee for allegedly overlooking the city’s pressing cleanliness challenges. “The Standing Committee listed 102 agenda items but failed to include the critical issue of sanitation. Delhi’s garbage collection is in shambles. Some zones don’t even have tippers. Despite this, it was not on the agenda,” Narang said.
