In order to further strengthen the drainage network in the city and ensure swift discharge of stormwater during monsoon season, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is carrying out the works of laying a comprehensive drainage network across Sectors 68-75 and Sectors 112-115 in Gurugram and the work is going on in full swing. This key infrastructure project is part of GMDA’s ongoing efforts to prevent waterlogging and facilitate development in rapidly urbanising areas of the city.

Under the project, the construction of RCC Box type master stormwater drains will be carried out by the Infra 2 division of GMDA in Sectors 68-75 and Sectors 112-115 to provide a well-integrated master drainage system in these sectors and ensure adequate infrastructure is provided for the benefit of the citizens.

Laying a robust stormwater drainage system in these sectors will not only resolve long-standing waterlogging issues but also support the planned urban infrastructure expansion and improve the quality of life for residents.

To enhance the drainage network in Sector 68-75, approximately 17.63-km drain length will be laid wherein construction of RCC box type storm water drains of various sizes will be carried out.

The stormwater of this network will be disposed into the master storm water drain, which is under construction along SPR from Vatika Chowk to NH 48 and then ultimately in Leg-III Badshahpur drain. The areas covered include Sectors 68, 69, 70, 70A, 71, 72,75, 75A, 71, 73 and 74. The project for providing the stormwater drainage in Sectors 68-75 will be executed at a cost of Rs 51 crore and will be completed by August 2026.

The total drainage system will be connected with the master Leg-1 drain that already exists along these areas. Additionally, in order to curb the overflow of the main drain during the monsoon season, a pumping station will also be constructed near Leg-1 drain in Sector 115.

The pumping system will be made operational during heavy monsoon periods to avoid any possibilities of back flow of Leg-I and the proposed new drain. The project for providing the storm water drainage in Sectors 112-115 will be executed at a cost of Rs 32.80 crore. The project will be completed by May 2026.
