Union Minister of Commerce Piyush Goyal engaged in an interaction with beneficiaries of the Product-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Saturday.

Goyal emphasised the need for collaboration and consultation between the government and PLI beneficiaries.

He encouraged beneficiaries to provide constructive criticism while stressing the necessity for cooperation from their end. Goyal acknowledged government’s constraints, mentioning the CAG Audit and expressed confidence in the transparency of paperwork, dismissing the possibility of irregularities by ministers or government officials.

‘Scale operations’

In view of the prevalent competition, businesses should adopt an outward-looking approach & scale their operations beyond the domestic market. Businesses should focus on scaling their volume to enhance cost-effectiveness. —Piyush Goyal, Union Commerce Minister

Highlighting the importance of collaboration, Goyal stressed that mutual support would benefit the country, contributing to India’s transformation into a manufacturing powerhouse.

He clarified that the PLI scheme is designed not to create dependency on government services, but to act as an initial boost for the manufacturing sector, supporting its long journey ahead.

Goyal emphasised the prevalence of competition and urged businesses to adopt an outward-looking approach, scaling their operations beyond the domestic market. He encouraged businesses to focus on scaling their volume to enhance cost-effectiveness.

Goyal said he believed that every PLI beneficiary present at the meeting had the potential to become a success story.
