Govt determined to make Delhi ‘Skill Capital of India’, says Sood
Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University marks 6th foundation day
The Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) celebrated its 6th foundation day on Saturday with Education Minister Ashish Sood saying that the Delhi Government was determined to make the national capital the “Skill Capital of India.”
Speaking at the event as the chief guest, Sood said DSEU represented a “living model” of the Skill India vision, where education, employment and entrepreneurship moved forward in tandem. “I am here not merely as a minister but as a partner in this transformation through skill development. It is our responsibility to expand the reach and impact of the DSEU beyond Delhi,” he said.
The minister underlined that Skill India was a movement to ensure dignified employment for the youth. He added that the Delhi Government’s was focused on empowering young people with employable skills and self-reliance rather than merely conferring degrees.
Highlighting the university’s achievements, Sood commended the university for its progress in curriculum innovation, industry collaboration and job-oriented education within a short span. “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the government is committed to reforms and innovation in the education sector, following the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’,” he said.
Sood also announced the formation of a core committee to address pending issues of universities and educational institutions in a time-bound manner. He further declared that National Youth Day, observed on January 12, will be celebrated annually in Delhi, and from 2026 onwards, it will be observed at the national level.
DSEU Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Kumar Nagawat, in his address, said that crafting excellence was the varsity’s guiding mantra. He highlighted that DSEU was the first university in India to fully implement the National Education Policy (NEP), including the Multiple Entry-Exit System.
Dr Nagawat detailed the university’s partnerships with leading industries such as Daikin Blue Star, and Atkins Realis, and its flagship initiatives aimed at empowering the youth and the women.
