The Delhi Government is preparing for a wide-reaching anti-drug awareness campaign, with a grand state-level event, street plays and awareness runs planned across the city in the run-up to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh recently held a review meeting with officials to evaluate ongoing preparations and issued directions to scale up public outreach.

The campaign, spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare, will feature audio-visual content displayed at key public locations, jingles broadcast on FM radio and awareness messages screened in cinema halls. A total of 64 hotspots across Delhi have been identified where street plays will be performed to engage local communities directly.

To further expand the initiative’s reach, NSS and NCC students will participate in community outreach activities. District-level awareness runs will be held to mobilise youth and raise public consciousness. Posters, pamphlets and booklets will be distributed in schools and colleges.
