Addressing officials after an online review meeting with the Divisional Commissioner and District Magistrates from her camp office ‘Chief Minister Jan Seva Sadan,’ Gupta said the administration remains fully alert and engaged in relief efforts.
“Government departments are providing 24x7 assistance to the affected people. They are being supplied with food, water, medical aid, toilet facilities and other essentials. Fodder is also being provided for cattle belonging to farmers, and residents are being shifted to relief camps wherever necessary,” she said.
The Chief Minister emphasised that safeguarding the lives and property of flood-hit residents was the foremost responsibility of her government and no negligence will be tolerated.
Gupta said she had asked senior officials to assess crop damage so that compensation can be considered. “Specific instructions have been given to pay special attention to the elderly, women and children in the affected areas. Relief camps are in place for those evacuated from low-lying areas of the Yamuna,” she said. The Chief Minister also directed District Magistrates to coordinate with local social organisations for relief efforts and ensure fodder and protection for animals.
Highlighting public participation, Gupta said MPs, ministers, MLAs and other representatives were visiting flood-hit areas to resolve difficulties. She also pointed out that water from drains in Haryana was entering border regions of Delhi, and directed officials to coordinate with the Haryana authorities to resolve the issue.
Gupta assured that Delhi is fully prepared to handle any emergency. “The entire administrative machinery is active in response to the continuous rainfall and flooding. Senior officials, disaster management teams and health services are on full readiness,” she said.
