Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Devender Yadav on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Rekha Gupta-led BJP government in Delhi, accusing it of pushing the Capital into a debt trap while ignoring the basic needs of its residents.

Yadav demanded that the government make public all proposals sent under the Centre’s Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure (SASSI) scheme, particularly the recently disclosed Rs 600 crore loan for tourism projects.

Yadav alleged that the truth behind the Delhi Government’s much-publicised Rs 1-lakh-crore budget was now emerging.

“What is being shown as development is actually debt. Instead of funding essential public services like housing for slum dwellers, clean drinking water, and ration distribution, the Rekha Gupta-led government is borrowing for tourism infrastructure,” he said.

Yadav regarded a Rs 600-crore loan, reportedly discussed during the CM’s recent meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, as yet another example of the government’s misplaced priorities.
