A government wine shop salesman in Bharat Nagar, Northwest Delhi, was attacked by unidentified assailants with hockey sticks and knives, the police said on Sunday.
The victim, Gyanpal Singh (52), who suffered multiple stab injuries, was rushed to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital where he is undergoing treatment, they said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the attack was linked to an old enmity, an official said. A PCR call regarding the incident was received at the Bharat Nagar police station. Initial inquiry reveals that four persons armed with knives and hockey sticks attacked the victim.
CCTV footage from the shop also captured the accused attacking Singh. Crime team and Forensic experts inspected the scene, the cop added.
The victim is unfit to give a detailed statement, while statements of eyewitnesses, including the shop manager, are being recorded, the official mentioned.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered at the Bharat Nagar police station, and further investigation is on, the official added.
