Grand wrestling contest marks Hariyali Teej celebrations

On the occasion of Hariyali Teej, a grand wrestling competition was held on Sunday at the Shri Dada Dev Mandir Mela Ground in Palam Village, drawing a massive crowd of spectators. Organised by the Shri Dada Dev Mandir Prabandhak Sabha, Barah Gaon Palam, the event featured prominent wrestlers from across the region as well as participants from various age groups who showcased their skills in intense bouts.

Winners were awarded first, second and third prizes, with top awards of Rs 31,000, Rs 21,000 and Rs 11,000, along with several consolation prizes distributed by the jury. The wrestling matches captivated the audience and turned the temple ground into a lively arena of sportsmanship and celebration.

South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri attended the event as the chief guest, joined by local dignitaries, including MLA Kuldeep Solanki, several municipal councillors and former MLAs. He was welcomed with a traditional turban by Palam 360 Khap head Surender Solanki and Omveer Solanki.

Solanki highlighted the 1,400-year-old legacy of the Dada Dev Mandir and the village’s historic wrestling tradition. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from temple spokesperson Ranbir Solanki.
