Ground report: Parking dispute turns fatal, actor Huma’s cousin stabbed to death
The narrow lanes of Jangpura’s Bhogal, a popular jewellery shopping hub, wore a tense look on Friday morning — a veil of silence hanging over the neighbourhood where a parking dispute turned deadly the previous night.
The victim, 42-year-old Asif Qureshi, a cousin of Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi, was allegedly stabbed to death by two neighbours — Gautam and Ujwal — following an argument over their scooter blocking the entrance to his home.
All three lived in flats on the second floor of 7A, Church Lane, Bhogal, Jangpura Extension. A visit to the crime scene revealed a neighbourhood still in shock over the previous night’s events. This correspondent met an eyewitness who had rushed Asif to the hospital. He confirmed that the accused, brothers Gautam and Ujwal, had a history of picking fights with residents.
Asif’s family, who spoke to The Tribune, alleged a conspiracy to kill. His wife Shaheen (35) said in hushed tones, “This was no accident in a fit of rage. It was a premeditated murder.”
“Asif just asked them to move the scooter that was blocking the entrance to our house and they brutally stabbed him,” she said, tears in her eyes.

Shaheen alleged that the accused had been troubling them for a long time.
“They meant to kill my husband,” she said, still in shock after watching Asif succumb before her eyes.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari, who visited the crime scene on Thursday night, said the accused — Ujwal (21) and Gautam (18) — stabbed Asif using a paper punch needle. The incident occurred around 11 pm, he added.
What began as a verbal altercation quickly escalated into violence, with the duo attacking Asif with sharp objects. He later succumbed to his injuries, said an official.
Expressing shock over his nephew’s death, Huma father Saleem Qureshi said Asif used to supply chicken to nearby restaurants.
CCTV footage captured the scuffle between the two accused and the victim, as neighbours attempted to intervene. However, the actual stabbing was not visible in the recording.
