Gupta offers prayers at Haathi ghat, marks end of Chhath Puja

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended greetings to devotees across the country on the conclusion of the four-day Chhath Puja festival.

In a post on X, the PM said, “With the morning offering (arghya) to Lord Surya, the auspicious festival of Chhath concludes today. Over these four days, we witnessed the divine beauty of this grand tradition. I heartily congratulate all devotees and families who were part of this sacred festival. May the boundless grace of Chhathi Maiya always illuminate your lives.”

In Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, accompanied by Cabinet ministers and senior officials, offered arghya to the rising sun at Haathi Ghat near ITO, marking the festival’s culmination. She described the celebrations as a reflection of faith, discipline and cultural unity, saying the grandeur of this year’s Chhath Puja had made Delhi “a symbol of devotion and cleanliness.”

“This is not merely a religious observance but a symbol of a New Delhi that stands at the intersection of culture and cleanliness, reverence and service,” she said.

Joined by ministers Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, and Ravinder Indraj Singh, the Chief Minister performed rituals alongside fasting women (vratis) and interacted with devotees.

Expressing her gratitude to the Prime Minister, CM Gupta said, “It is through his blessings and the people’s trust that Delhi is witnessing such a magnificent celebration. The smiles on the faces of brothers and sisters from Purvanchal are the greatest blessings for me.”
