Gurugram civic body cracks down on encroachments across city

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) carried out a coordinated enforcement and infrastructure drive to remove illegal encroachments and address civic issues across multiple stretches of the city.

At the sector-dividing road between Sectors 90 and 93, the Enforcement Wing, led by District Town Planner (DTP) GMDA RS Batth, demolished unauthorised carts located near roundabouts. Vendors found to have extended beyond the space allocated by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) were

also evicted.

Meanwhile, the Infrastructure-I Division resolved long-pending drainage problem along the same stretch. Previously, resistance from locals had delayed essential digging work to connect a surface drain. That work has now been completed, ensuring uninterrupted drainage connectivity in areas where road access was hindered by ongoing projects.

On the road dividing Sectors 92 and 95, GMDA sealed illegal openings in the central verge that had been making the area accident-prone and compromising commuter safety. Additionally, potholes identified during inspections were repaired on priority.

Action was also taken along the Multi-Utility Corridor between Sectors 84/88 and 85/88, where encroachments in the form of dumped material, tin sheds and even a permanent structure were removed. Offenders were directed to vacate the occupied spaces so that work on the service road could resume without further delay.

The joint drive is part of GMDA’s ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, restore civic infrastructure and accelerate road development work.

“GMDA remains committed to taking strict enforcement measures against violations while simultaneously addressing citizens’ infrastructure concerns on priority. We will continue such regular enforcement drives to also accelerate ongoing infrastructure developmental works of the Authority,” said RS Batth.
