Gurugram police form SIT to investigate rape allegation against SHO
After the Delhi Police registered a zero FIR against an SHO on the charge of rape, the Gurugram police have now formed a special investigation team (SIT), headed by ACP (crime against women) Surendra Kaur, for fair probe into the case.
According to the complaint filed in Delhi, a female lawyer said on the night of May 22, she was called to the police station on the pretext of questioning in a case and was forcibly made to sit there till 3 am. She said during this time, the SHO behaved inappropriately with her and sexually harassed her. The SHO misused his position and tortured her physically and mentally, she added in her complaint.
A spokesperson for the Gurugram police said a case was registered on May 21 under sections of assault and obstruction in discharge of official duty at the Sector 50 police station.
“All the allegations made in the zero FIR will be investigated impartially. But it is also clear that the case of assault already registered against the woman lawyer in the Sector 50 police station has been registered under a completely legal process. An SIT has been formed for the impartial investigation into both cases,” said the spokesperson.
A case related to dowry is currently going on between a couple in the women police station, Sector 51. After counselling both the parties in the police station, a fight took place between them outside the police station on May 21.
After a while, the female lawyer reached the police station and allegedly started beating the client’s wife. When the woman constable came to intervene, the advocate allegedly started abusing and beating the woman constable as well.
Later, a case was registered against the female lawyer at the Sector 50 police station on the complaint of the woman constable. She was arrested but after she joined the investigation, she was released on bail. Following this, the lawyer approached the Delhi Police, and now, the Gurugram police have formed an SIT for probe.
