Gurugram reports 10 Covid cases, isolation wards set up
The district administration and Health Department have initiated extensive measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 after 10 new cases were confirmed in Gurugram on Thursday.
Immediately following the latest confirmations, a special 30-bed isolation ward was set up at the District Hospital, while sub-district and community health centres each established 10-bed isolation units.
Health officials report that the newly diagnosed patients are exhibiting mild to moderate symptoms and are receiving appropriate medical care. Contact tracing for all confirmed cases has commenced, and testing and screening operations across affected areas have been accelerated to identify potential infections at the earliest.
The 30-bed isolation ward at the District Hospital is equipped with modern medical equipment and trained staff and is designated for severe cases requiring ventilators and oxygen support. The 10-bed units at the sub-district and CHC hospitals are reserved for patients with milder symptoms, helping to alleviate pressure on the central hospital.
Officials have appealed to residents not to panic and to strictly follow COVID-appropriate behaviour: wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and practising regular hand hygiene. Individuals who have not yet received their booster dose are urged to visit the nearest health centre for vaccination without delay.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr JP Rajliwal said, “Gurugram has successfully faced previous waves of Covid-19, and the administration is fully prepared to manage this situation. While the scenario remains under control, the cooperation of citizens is essential.” He further advised residents to avoid crowded places and to contact the nearest health centre immediately upon experiencing any symptoms.
In addition, the Health Department has decided to ramp up district-wide testing to ensure early detection of new cases. Residents are expected to support the administration’s efforts in overcoming this challenge and helping to keep the situation under control.
