Bhojpuri star and North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari is back in his musical element with a heartfelt new track, “Haan, Hum Bihari Hain Ji.” Released just days before Chhath Puja and the Bihar Assembly elections, the song is a melodic tribute to Bihar’s spirit, its people, culture and deep-rooted traditions.

The song, which has already begun trending on social media, opens with a line that captures the essence of Bihar’s industrious soul:

“Maati ko sona karne wali kalakaari hai ji.... Haan hum bihari hai ji, thode sanskari hai ji ” (“We are the artisans who turn soil into gold..... Yes, we are Bihari and a little traditional too)

From there, Tiwari takes his listeners on a poetic journey across Bihar’s history and cultural landscape. Through evocative verses, the song celebrates the teachings of Buddha, the wisdom of Aryabhatta, and the valor of Chanakya — weaving them seamlessly into the modern identity of Bihar.

“Buddh ka hum tana Bana,

jaise lage priye makhana.

Hum hai Mahaveer ki bani,

Aryabhatt jaise gyani.”

(“We are woven with the threads of Buddha’s teachings, As beloved as the taste of makhana.

We are the voice of Mahavir,

As wise as Aryabhatta.”)

Dedicated partly to the spirit of Chhath Puja — one of Bihar’s most revered festivals — the track highlights the devotion and purity associated with the four-day celebration that centres around offerings to the Sun God. Through his voice, Tiwari channels the collective emotion of millions who gather along riverbanks each year to honour Chhath Maiya, blending religious fervour with cultural nostalgia.

The song, written by Atul Kumar Rai, music by Madhukar Anand, and produced by Shailendra Dwivedi, is a lyrical salute to the hardworking people of Bihar—those who leave their homes to build cities, yet stay deeply connected to their roots.

“Delhi-Bombay, Dubai, London humse gulzar rehte

Suriname, Mauritius kr khet bhi kahani kehte.

Duniya me jahan bhi jate, hum mehnat se chha jate.”

(“Delhi-Mumbai, Dubai, and London thrive because of us,

Even the fields of Suriname and Mauritius tell our stories.

Wherever we go in the world, We rise through hard work.”)

Each verse paints a vivid picture of Bihar’s pride from the intellectual heritage of Nalanda and the poetry of Dinkar to the revolutionary spirit of Kunwar Singh and Jayaprakash Narayan. The lyrics balance nostalgia with pride, making the listener feel both the humility and the grandeur of being Bihari.
