HC extends stay on National Herald case trial proceedings
The Delhi High Court on Thursday extended the stay on trial court proceedings in the National Herald case, which involves Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others.
Justice Vikas Mahajan scheduled the next hearing on July 28 on a plea filed by former BJP MP Subramanian Swamy.
The court directed all parties to submit their written arguments regarding Swamy’s plea, which seeks permission to lead additional evidence in the trial court.
Swamy and senior counsel RS Cheema, representing the Gandhis, both sought more time to file their submissions.
The counsel argued that there should not be any stay on the investigation in the case, while Cheema, along with advocate Tarannum Cheema, countered that this case stems from a private complaint, and there was no official probe to begin with.
Swamy had accused Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, along with other Congress leaders, of conspiring to cheat and misappropriate funds.
