Heavy rain lashes Gurugram city, causes waterlogging and traffic jams

Heavy rain coupled with gusty winds, thunderstorm and lightening lashed the Gurugram city on Wednesday evening, bringing some respite from the hot and humid weather condition, but also adding to the misery of the residents.

The India Metrological Department has sounded an alert over the heavy rains, which are expected to continue till August 5 in the Gurugram city.

There were reports of long traffic jams and waterlogging in many parts of the city. A two-km long traffic jam was reported on the old Delhi road near the Kapashera border. A similar situation was witnessed on the Delhi-Jaipur highway.

The areas from where reports of long traffic jams came in due to waterlogging were Narsinghpur along the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, Basai, Hero Honda Chowk, Golf Course Extension road, Rajiv Chowk, Vatika Chowk, Iffco Chowk, Udyog Vihar, Sohna Road, Khandsa Road, old Delhi road, Pataudi Road, from Millenium City Centre to Hero Honda Chowk road, and a few other parts of the city.

Also, thousands of employees, workers and labourers got stuck at their workplaces.
