Her family fought to protect Afzal Guru: Swati Maliwal's scathing attack on Atishi
AAP MP Swati Maliwal on Tuesday hit out at the party's decision to appoint Atishi as the next Chief Minister until elections are held.
In a legislative party meet at CM Arvind Kejriwal's residence, it was unanimously decided to appoint Atishi as his successor, after Kejriwal proposed her name.
Meanwhile, Maliwal in a post on X said, “Today is a very sad day for Delhi. Today, the Chief Minister of Delhi is being made a woman whose family fought a long battle to save terrorist Afzal Guru from hanging.”
“Her parents wrote mercy petitions to the Honorable President to save terrorist Afzal Guru. According to them, Afzal Guru was innocent and was framed as part of a political conspiracy. Although Atishi Marlena is just a 'Dummy CM', still this issue is related to the security of the country. May God protect Delhi!” she added.
Maliwal has been at crossroads with her party after she had alleged that Kejriwal's close aide and his former PA Bibhav Kumar had ‘assaulted’ her at CM's residence in May.
