Ahead of Diwali, the Delhi Police have busted an illegal factory manufacturing counterfeit toothpaste and antacid in Jagatpur Village, North Delhi, they said on Wednesday.

The police arrested four persons - kingpin Nabeel, a resident of Ballimaran, Chandni Chowk, and three labourers, they added.

The police on Tuesday received information at the Wazirabad Police station regarding counterfeit products being produced in violation of the Copyright Act and Trade Marks Act.

“Acting on a tip-off, a team from the District Investigation Unit (DIU), North District, conducted a raid at Khasra No. 1,000, Gali No. 10-C, Jagatpur Extension. During the raid, the police found Nabeel, a resident of Ballimaran, Chandni Chowk, and three labourers, engaged in the manufacturing of counterfeit Close-Up Toothpaste and Eno,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia.

The DCP said a huge quantity of fake products and packaging materials, including 10,000 empty toothpaste tubes of 80 grams, 5,250 empty tubes of 150 grams, 12,824 filled tubes of 150 grams, 12,516 filled tubes of 80 grams, 220 cartons, two gun machines, one filling machine and 22 tubes ready for filling, were seized from the site.

In addition, the police recovered 14 packaging rolls weighing around 50 kg each, 11,100 Eno pouches (filled and unfilled), four drums of raw powder of 20 kg each and one large processing machine.
