Illegal liquor shop busted in Gurugram village, 1 held

A joint team of the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau and the Excise Department has busted a liquor shop being run illegally at Rithoj village and arrested a salesman. The raiding team also seized 113 boxes of illegal liquor from the site. An FIR was registered at the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau’s police station in Gurugram.

According to Inspector Arvind Kumar, SHO of the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau’s police station, the department received information on Friday that a liquor shop was operating illegally without any permit or licence on Jail Road at Rithoj village. Acting on this tip-off, a team was formed in coordination with the Excise Department and a raid was conducted at the location on Friday night.

A salesman, Akhilesh, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was found at the liquor shop. Upon questioning, he was unable to produce any permit or licence for the shop and was arrested on the spot. A total of 113 boxes of illegal liquor were recovered from the premises. The liquor shop was sealed by the excise team.

“An FIR was registered and we are conducting raids to nab the owner of the illegal liquor shop,” said Inspector Arvind Kumar, SHO of the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau’s police station.
