New Delhi: A man allegedly threw itching powder into the eyes of a gas agency manager and robbed him of his bag containing about Rs 8.5 lakh in the Narela area of outer-north Delhi, police said on Saturday. The victim, Vinay Tiwari, was going to deposit the money in a bank on Saturday afternoon when the incident took place, they said added. Tiwari, who works as a manager of two gas godowns, said he collected Rs 8,45,000 from his workplace and was going to deposit the cash at HDFC Bank near Ramdev Chowk on his bike, police said in a statement. "Suddenly he felt some foreign substance in his eyes, causing irritation. As he rubbed his eyes, he noticed that the bag containing cash was missing from the handle of his motorcycle," it said.
Ashram ‘mahant’ booked for rape
New Delhi: :An 89-year-old ‘mahant’ has been booked for allegedly raping his disciple in north Delhi's Timarpur area, police said on Saturday. A complaint reporting the alleged crime was filed on December 13 against Raja Ram Das of Kabir Mandir, Lucknow Road, Timarpur. "A case under 376 (rape) of IPC has been registered against Das," the police said. In her complaint, the victim, a 51-year-old woman, alleged that Das, a mahant of Satguru Raja Ram Sahab Dharmik Trust in Timarpur, raped her on the night of April 14 in his ashram. Meanwhile, Das also filed a complaint against the victim and five other people alleging that they tried to grab the ashram by illegal means, an officer said.
