As the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) elections draw near, student associations have ramped up their campaigning efforts. Leading the charge, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress party, is actively engaging with students. On Thursday, likely DUSU candidate Rishabh Choudhary was seen distributing pamphlets to students as part of their pre-nomination drive.

In addition, the NSUI held a press conference on Thursday under its ‘Save Delhi University’ campaign. Honey Bagga, NSUI Delhi in-charge, outlined several critical issues plaguing the university. “The rising cost of education, the prevalence of fake degrees among some leaders, and the growing culture of fear and violence on campus are pressing concerns,” Bagga said.

Bagga announced that the NSUI would organise a protest at the Art Faculty of Delhi University to address these urgent issues. “Our protest aims to draw attention to the myriad problems affecting our university and demand action from the administration,” Bagga said. He expects hundreds of students to participate in the protest, which seeks to compel DU administration to address the ongoing issues.

“We are committed to defending student rights and tackling these challenges to ensure Delhi University maintains its academic excellence,” Bagga added. The NSUI’s efforts underscore their dedication to improving student welfare and safeguarding the university’s reputation.
