New Delhi, July 12

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to grant interim bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. The party said truth has prevailed while the BJP’s conspiracy has failed. AAP’s national general secretary (organisation), Dr Sandeep Pathak, called it a historic decision for the country, asserting, “The court’s order has dismantled the so-called liquor scam orchestrated by the BJP.”

Pathak emphasised key points from the court’s findings: there were no transactions, not a single penny had been recovered, and that Kejriwal and AAP are not involved in any corruption. “This entire case is fabricated,” he stated.

He added, “We believe that whatever the Supreme Court does will benefit the country and provide direction for the future.” Pathak also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration, claiming it is characterised by sending political leaders to jail. “Under Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and the BJP, a dictatorial system has emerged where political opponents are wrongfully imprisoned on false charges,” he remarked.

Cabinet Minister Atishi described the ongoing scrutiny of AAP leaders and ministers over the past two years as a BJP conspiracy. She noted that the Rouse Avenue Court had indicated that the ED has no evidence against Kejriwal and is acting with bias.

Similarly, Cabinet member Saurabh Bharadwaj highlighted that under the strict provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, the standards for arrest must also be high. “It’s not feasible to arrest someone for minor issues without granting bail. If bail is accessible under any law, then so too should arrests be justified,” he stated.

Bharadwaj added that the court’s order placed no legal restrictions that would force Kejriwal to resign as Chief Minister, despite BJP claims.
