The NCC Cell of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IP University) earned accolades for its exceptional performance in recent inter-institutional competitions organised by the NCC Directorate, Delhi. The university secured second place overall and clinched first place in the Inter-Unit ADG Banner Competition in the minor boys unit category.
At a ceremony held on Tuesday at Raj Bhavan, Delhi’s Lieutenant-Governor, Vinay Kumar Saxena, honoured the university’s NCC team for their impressive achievement. The event was also attended by Vice-Chancellor Mahesh Verma and prof Varun Joshi, programme coordinator of the NCC Cell.
Prof Joshi emphasised the diverse contributions of the university’s NCC cadets, highlighting their active participation in various co-curricular and social initiatives, such as the Swachh Environment Campaign, the Tobacco-Free Campus initiative, and the tree plantation drive. “Our cadets, 160 boys and 160 girls, actively participate in every camp organised by the NCC Directorate and have contributed to major events like the Republic Day Parade and PM/CM rallies,” he said.
Prof Verma expressed his pride in the achievement, noting that the recognition reflects the hard work and commitment of the NCC Cell, which has been actively involved not only on campus but also across all affiliated institutions over the past five years. “This award will undoubtedly serve as a morale booster for our team,” he added.
