IP varsity holds startups meet to strengthen Indo-Poland ties

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), in collaboration with AGH University of Krakow, Poland, organised a Start-Ups and SMEs Meet to deepen academic and entrepreneurial ties between the two nations.

Prof Mahesh Verma, vice-chancellor of GGSIPU, highlighted “the growing synergy between India and Poland following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic visit to Poland in 2024, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in forty-five years.”

Prof Jerzy Lis, rector of AGH University, underlined the expanding scope of Indo–Polish cooperation in higher education, technology and innovation. He said, “The collaboration between AGH and GGSIPU stands as a practical example of how academic linkages can promote industrial growth and sustainable entrepreneurship.”

Highlighting Poland’s strategic position within the European Union (EU), Prof Lis affirmed his university’s readiness to act as a bridge between Indian enterprises and European markets, noting that universities have a vital role in realising the objectives of the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and the forthcoming India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

O P Gupta, general secretary of Laghu Udyog Bharti (LUB), who led the LUB delegation, spoke about the potential for collaboration between Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and Polish industries. He noted that India’s MSMEs, with their agility and innovation, could greatly benefit from Poland’s advanced manufacturing and technology capabilities.

He emphasised “the opportunities for market access, supply-chain integration and technology transfer,” and remarked that sub-national initiatives such as the Małopolska–Delhi Committee could serve as enabling platforms for joint ventures and knowledge exchange.

Prof Dariusz Sala and Prof Dariusz Cichon of AGH University described the collaboration as a model of academic and regional partnership.
