It’s a contest between politics of work and abuse: Kejriwal
As the stage is set for the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday called on party workers to get ready with full strength.
As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission, Delhi will go to the polls on February 5. The counting of votes will be done on February 8.
“The election schedule has been announced. All volunteers should gear up with full strength and enthusiasm to take the field. You are our greatest strength. This election will be a contest between the ‘politics of work’ and the ‘politics of hurling abuses’. Trust of Delhi’s people will remain with our politics of work. We will surely win,” Kejriwal posted on X.
Meanwhile, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia said the people of Delhi would vote for a leader who provided 24-hour electricity and ensured zero electricity bills, easing the lives of countless families in the city.
He said on February 5, Delhiites would once again place their trust in the visionary and honest leadership of Arvind Kejriwal. “They will vote wisely and thoughtfully to make this a reality. Once again, they will choose a leader who secures a bright future for their children, works towards the dream of making Delhi a clean and beautiful city and protects them from the burden of inflation,” said Sisodia.
Expressing confidence, Delhi state convener and Cabinet Minister Gopal Rai said: “We are confident that the people of Delhi will come together and once again form the working government of Arvind Kejriwal.” He said the party would now further intensify its efforts and take them to the next level.
The party also launched its campaign song, “Phir Laenge Kejriwal”, on Tuesday.
Taking a jibe at the BJP, senior AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said: “Our only concern was that the BJP might postpone the elections… The BJP has no narrative among the public, no progressive agenda and no visible preparation for the elections.”
“Now that the election schedule is announced, we are fully prepared. I believe, just like last time, the BJP will secure a few seats, while the AAP will win with a huge majority,” he claimed.
Meanwhile, AAP demanded action against the BJP candidate from the New Delhi constituency for allegedly distributing money to voters.
AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said: “Two fake applications were filed to remove the name of Anita Singh, wife of MP Sanjay Singh, from the voters’ list. During the revision of voters’ list for the New Delhi seat, 5,500 names were removed and requests were made to add 10,500 fake names.”
She said the Election Commission took note of these issues and filed eight FIRs against 24 persons. She said: “We are hopeful that the Commission will take action on all legitimate complaints raised by AAP to ensure free and fair elections.”
Commenting on the upcoming elections, she said: “Now that the election date has been announced, the BJP should also announce its candidate.”
