Jamia faculty bag Rs 1.53-cr research project

The Department of Civil Engineering at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has been awarded a major research project worth Rs 1.53 crore by NBCC (India) Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise, under the Government of India.

The project focuses on developing high performance concrete using advanced materials such as nano cement and nano additives. It will be led by Ibadur Rahman and M Amir Mazhar. Rahman is known for his significant contributions to advanced cement and concrete technology and holds several patents in the field.

The initiative was conceptualised under the guidance of Prof Farhan A Kidwai and Prof Quamrul Hassan. Prof Hassan expressed his gratitude to Vice-Chancellor Mazhar Asif and registrar Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi for creating a conducive ecosystem for the promotion of research at the university.

According to the university, the project aims to deliver industry-ready solutions for large scale infrastructure applications across India. It aligns with the shared vision of the NBCC and the JMI to promote cutting edge, application oriented research, addressing the country’s infrastructure and sustainability needs.
