New Delhi, July 30

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has expressed shock over the INDI Alliance leaders’ support to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently in jail on corruption charges.

Sachdeva criticised the INDI Alliance’s protest against the ongoing legal proceedings, asserting that the judiciary, not political bodies, decides matters of bail and detention.

“One fails to understand the purpose of the INDI Alliance’s protest. The cases against Kejriwal are filed by investigation agencies, but decisions on bail or detention are made by the judiciary,” Sachdeva remarked. He noted that past instances, such as the jailing and subsequent release of Sanjay Singh, and Kejriwal’s own interim bail for campaigning, demonstrate that the judiciary, not the government, determines bail conditions. “Both examples clearly show that investigation agencies and the government present their cases in court, but never interfere with the court’s decision on bail,” he added.

Sachdeva further accused Kejriwal of attempting to manipulate health issues to secure bail, contrasting this with the conduct of investigation agencies. “The investigation agencies have behaved with maturity, while Arvind Kejriwal has been trying to create health issues to get bail,” he said.

The BJP President also criticised Congress for its stance on the issue. “The dual face of Congress on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Arvind Kejriwal stands exposed today,” Sachdeva stated. He highlighted the contradiction between the Congress’s condemnation of AAP and Kejriwal’s corruption during a press conference led by Delhi BJP President Devendra Yadav and Congress MPs Tarun Gogoi and Pramod Tiwari praising Kejriwal as a victim of political conspiracy. “People of Delhi fail to understand which Congress leader is representing the actual Congress stand on Arvind Kejriwal,” Sachdeva added.
