With Assembly polls drawing closer, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced the roll out of the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana and promised to raise the monthly aid from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,100 post-elections to every eligible woman above the age of 18.
“I want to tell the BJP, I am a magician. I know where to get money from, where to save it and where to spend it. If I make a promise, I will fulfil it. I said I would provide monetary help to women and from today that has started,” said Kejriwal.
The scheme was introduced in the Delhi Budget of 2024-25 with a budgetary allocation of Rs 2,000 crore.
“I had promised that I will give Rs 1,000 to every woman. This proposal was passed in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Atishi on Thursday morning. Now this scheme has been implemented in Delhi... Elections will be announced in 10-15 days, so it is not possible to transfer money to the account right now. Some women said that Rs 1,000 will not be enough due to inflation. Therefore, registration will start from tomorrow for Rs 2,100 per month” he said.
Kejriwal stated that this scheme will not be an expense for the government but a blessing. “The blessings of our mothers and sisters will bring prosperity to the Delhi Government. Some people were saying Kejriwal is making claims, it won’t happen. It’s impossible. This or that person won’t allow it,” he added.
“But it has happened,” he added saying, “Whatever Kejriwal sets his mind to, he ensures it gets done. No force in the world can stop him.”
“In the next two–three days, AAP volunteers will visit every street and every home. Get yourself registered, they will provide you with a registration card—keep it safe. After the elections, Rs 2,100 in their accounts will be provided,” he continued.
Further, attacking the BJP and calling on the voters of Delhi, the AAP supremo said, “Some predict 45 or 50 seats, but I believe that with the hard work of every sister and mother, the AAP will win over 60, maybe even 65 seats. Now, it is your responsibility—all the mothers and sisters in Delhi… These (BJP) people are very cunning. If we win with fewer seats, they will meddle with the government and buy MLAs. We cannot let that happen. Everyone must work hard and you all should ensure we win more than 60 seats.”
