Kejri’s promise of Rs 2,100 to women ‘biggest lie of this century’: LoP
The Delhi BJP on Thursday launched an attack on former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP Government, accusing them of making hollow promises to women under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana.
BJP leaders alleged that Kejriwal had consistently failed to deliver on his commitments, particularly in Punjab and Delhi, and is using the scheme as a tactic to mislead voters ahead of the elections.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva asked why the AAP Government had delayed implementing the scheme despite its announcement nearly a year ago.
“Why did Arvind Kejriwal take 10 months to give Cabinet approval for the scheme, which he first announced in February?,” he added.
Sachdeva also criticised the AAP Government in Punjab, which had promised financial aid to women before the 2022 Assembly elections.
“Why the AAP Government in Punjab has not fulfilled its promise of the scheme in the past two years?” he questioned.
He also accused Kejriwal of collecting forms from women before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections under the promise of Rs 1,000 monthly grant starting in September. “However, no funds have been distributed to date,” he claimed, alleging that “fearing his impending defeat, Kejriwal is once again deceiving women with empty promises”.
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said Kejriwal’s announcement of Rs 2,100 per month was “the biggest lie of this century.” Gupta stated: “Misleading the public with false promises before every election and then forgetting them afterward has become a habit for Arvind Kejriwal.”
Comparing BJP’s governance with AAP, Gupta highlighted successful schemes implemented in BJP-ruled states. “In Madhya Pradesh, under the ‘Mukhyamantri Ladli Vandana Yojana,’ women are receiving Rs 1,250 per month. In Maharashtra, the BJP government offers Rs 1,500 per month under the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Behan Yojana’. Odisha provides Rs 10,000 annually and Haryana will soon launch a Rs 2,100 monthly aid scheme for women,” Gupta stated.
The BJP leaders also alleged that the AAP government is mismanaging Delhi’s finances, claiming that it is preparing to borrow Rs 10,000 crore from the Central Government to pay salaries.
“While grappling with a revenue deficit, the AAP government continues to mislead the people of Delhi with false and hollow announcements,” he added.
