Kejriwal accuses BJP of getting voter names deleted from electoral list

However, the District Magistrate Shahdara in a post on X said that only 494 forms had been received against the claim of the AAP.

“Only 494 Form 7s have been received in Shahdara Assembly constituency since 29 October, 2024. Hence, the claim that 11,018 Form 7s were filed by the BJP in the last one month is factually incorrect.” the post read.

Kejriwal alleged that the Election Commission’s role was highly suspicious. “According to the rules, the Election Commission must upload details of all applications for vote deletions on its website daily in Form 10. Yet, as of yesterday, the Election Commission’s website showed only 487 applications for vote deletions in Shahdara constituency over the past month.”

Kejriwal claimed the BJP had applied to cut 11,018 votes, while an investigation revealed that 75 per cent of these voters were alive and still residing at their registered addresses.

Flanked by senior leaders Manish Sisodia, MP Raghav Chadha, and Jitender Singh ‘Shunty’, the former Delhi Chief Minister demanded immediate action from the Election Commission to halt voter deletions until the elections and called for a thorough investigation into the conspiracy.

He alleged that in the last month and a half, BJP has already submitted applications to delete 11,000 votes, and the process continues.

He further said that in these applications, it has been claimed that voters have either shifted or have deceased. “Upon randomly selecting 500 voters to verify. Many of these addresses belonged to ‘jhuggi’ clusters and unauthorised colonies, making them difficult to locate. However, out of the 500 voters investigated, we found 372 voters still residing at the same addresses.”

However, remaining addresses could not be verified, but based on this sample he claimed that the BJP’s claims were “flawed”.

He claimed the same exercise was being carried out in Janakpuri, Sangam Vihar, RK Puram, Dwarka, Tughlakabad, Okhla, Karawaval Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Mustafabad, Vikas Puri, Uttam Nagar, Krishna Nagar, and Matiala.
