AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday filed his nomination from the New Delhi Assembly constituency for the upcoming elections. Kejriwal was accompanied by his wife Sunita and other women volunteers of the party.
Addressing the media after filing his papers, Kejriwal said: “I am confident that AAP will return to power in Delhi.”
Before filing his nomination papers, he visited Maharishi Valmiki Mandir and Pracheen Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place. Later, he led a padyatra from the AAP headquarters to Jamnagar House, where he filed his nomination.
Kejriwal accused the BJP of running a campaign of negativity. “On one side, there’s a party that works, while on the other, there’s a party that only abuses. Abuses lead to no progress. We are asking for votes based on the work we’ve done. The BJP has no CM face and no vision for Delhi,” he asserted.
His wife Sunita said: “People of Delhi are wise and will choose leadership that delivers. The BJP neither has a leader capable of governance nor a vision for the future.”
On a question about BJP’s candidate distributing shoes outside a temple, Arvind Kejriwal said: “They believe they can buy votes with a pair of shoes. This is an insult to the people of Delhi.”
On reports regarding threat to his life, he said: “Jaako rakhe saiyaan maar sake na koi... (no one can kill the one who is protected by god). God is with me. I will stay alive as long as my lifeline is in God’s hands.”
