AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal who recently stepped down as Chief Minister of Delhi, is set to be among the people holding ‘Janta Ki Adalat’ (People’s Court) on Sunday to seek a ‘certificate’ of honesty from the people over his incarceration in the Delhi liquor policy case.
On Sunday, Kejriwal will stand before the public in what has been dubbed the first-ever mass gathering after his release at Jantar Mantar, where citizens have been invited to discuss the recent developments regarding his resignation.
Senior AAP leader Dilip Pandey, said, “Delhi will affirm: ‘My Kejriwal is honest, his arrest was on baseless charges and was an attempt by the BJP to derail the crucial public services provided by the AAP government.”
Pandey further alleged that the BJP had used central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as political tools to target AAP leaders.
“Delhi and the entire country witnessed how the BJP misused constitutional organisations like the ED and CBI to arrest AAP leaders to break the party. When the BJP could not break the AAP with the help of these institutions, then to finish the party, it made baseless allegations against our leaders. And without any proof, one by one our leaders were sent behind bars,” said the Timarpur MLA.
The MLA said that the judiciary’s decisions in favor of AAP had acted as a “tight slap on the face of the arrogant political party.”
Pandey assured that AAP’s work for the public has not stopped and key initiatives such as free electricity, water, quality education, Mohalla Clinics, pilgrimage schemes for senior citizens, and free bus travel for women will continue unabated.
“The BJP wanted to halt the facilities and services provided by Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP government for Delhiites... But neither the government stopped, nor Arvind Kejriwal’s soldiers and ministers, and the work of the people of Delhi kept going on,” he added.
“Arvind Kejriwal has said that if the people of Delhi do not agree with the baseless allegations of the BJP, then I will sit on the Chief Minister’s chair only when the people of Delhi make me sit on the CM’s chair with a massive mandate. Such a statement is unprecedented,” he said.
