Female officers will tie rakhis to offenders and seek a promise from them not to repeat the violations. The campaign also aims to educate the public on the importance of wearing helmets, using seatbelts and avoiding offences like triple-riding on two-wheelers.

“The initiative aims to raise awareness, drawing inspiration from Raksha Bandhan, where sisters tie rakhis to symbolise protection and care for their brothers,” a senior official said. The theme was chosen to reinforce the message of safety and responsibility on the roads, the official added.
