Ankush Narang, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the MCD, on Saturday alleged that the “Kude Se Aazadi” campaign of the Delhi Government turned out to be a mere photo op as garbage is piled up across streets in the national capital.

Narang, who visited Civil Lines Zone’s Dhirpur and Kadipur wards, pointed out that even the Nirankari Samagam Ground, where the Prime Minister holds rallies, has now turned into a garbage dump exposing the entire campaign.

“BJP councillors themselves accepted in the MCD Standing Committee meeting that garbage is piling up in Central, South and West zones. If the Mayor cannot keep his own zone clean, how will he clean the whole of Delhi?”

Criticising the saffron party, he said: “People of Delhi had chosen the BJP with high hopes. Despite a so-called ‘four-engine’ government, the problem of garbage in Delhi is worsening. Due to the failure of the BJP, CM Rekha Gupta and Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, Delhi is turning into a city of garbage heaps.”

Narang said: “There are garbage heaps everywhere in the Mayor’s own zone. Four days ago, some councillors complained to the Mayor, but he declared himself helpless, saying when his own zone is in this condition, how can he help others?”

Demanding accountability, Narang said: “Appointing a dummy like Raja Iqbal Singh as the Mayor was the mistake. If he cannot improve his own zone, how will he bring change in the entire Delhi?”
