L-G tells cops to train teachers to fight cybercrime

Following a Samvaad@Rajniwas session with principals and teachers of private schools in Delhi, Lieutenant Governor (L-G) VK Saxena has directed the Delhi Police to provide training to teaching staff and students on dealing with cyber bullying, cybercrime, hoax bomb threats, and self-defence.The issue of rising cyber threats and security concerns was raised by educators during the interaction on December 20. In response, the L-G Secretariat promptly wrote to the Delhi Police Commissioner, emphasising the need for training programmes for teachers to handle such situations effectively.

The letter from the L-G Secretariat stated, "During the Samvaad, teachers highlighted the increasing cases of cyber bullying and hoax bomb threats, stressing the importance of training school staff to manage these issues. They also requested training for teachers to counsel students on these critical matters."

In his directive, L-G Saxena instructed the Police Commissioner to create specialised training programmes for both educators and students. These programmes will focus on tackling cybercrime, addressing security threats, and empowering students with self-defence skills. The Police Commissioner has been asked to submit an Action Taken Report within 15 days.
