Gurugram MC Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg inaugurated the function, distributing blankets and food to the poor and the needy, who gathered in large numbers.

He visited the free check-up camp, organised in collaboration with Dharmani Healthcare and the Health Department.

About 400 people visited the camp, and got free medicines for basic ailments.

Addressing the gathering, Garg called upon area residents to join the ongoing campaign to make Gurugram a clean, beautiful and green city.

“The participation of area residents is necessary to improve civic amenities in the city,” he said.

PFTAI chairman Deepak Maini assured the commissioner that local industrialists would extend all possible help to the civic body in keeping the industrial hubs of the city clean.

He demanded that MC officials handover a vacant plot located in the industrial area to the PFTAI to construct an office and a community centre for their organisation. Presently, the vacant plot is an illegal solid waste dumping ground, and creates problems for neighbouring industries.

PFTAI vice-chairman SP Agarwal and local industrialists demanded that issues of leakages in sewerage pipelines and high-handedness of door-to-door waste collection agencies in industrial areas be resolved on priority.
