A 26-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman on the pretext of marriage and uploading her intimate videos on social media without her consent.
The police said the accused, identified as Mohd Sohil, alias Sonu, who is a resident of Badaun, was arrested from the Anand Parbat police station. Digital evidence related to the case has also been recovered.
The matter came to light when a 24-year-old woman approached the police with a complaint, alleging that Sohil engaged in sexual relations with her on the false promise of marriage. She told police that the accused secretly recorded intimate videos of her and later uploaded them on Instagram.
Based on her complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the BNS and an investigation was launched.
Investigators used call detail record (CDR) analysis and inputs from secret sources to locate Sohil. He was subsequently arrested. The police are investigating whether other individuals were involved.
The accused remains in custody while further inquiries are underway. The police said efforts were on to determine if the uploaded videos were shared with others or distributed on additional platforms.
