Police spokesperson Yashpal Singh said based on the statement of the man’s wife, an FIR had been registered at the Palla police station.

According to the police, the deceased were identified as Mohammad Nizam (40), a native of Samastipur in Bihar, and his two children Mohammad Dilshad (11) and Saima Parveen (12). Nizam and his wife Khushi would often quarrel due to the former’s drinking habit. Following an altercation three months ago, Nizam threw Khushi out of the house. He had been living with his children since then.

On Saturday, Nizam poisoned his children and later consumed it himself. Around 8:30 pm, when their health started deteriorating, their neighbours came to know about it. They were then admitted to a private hospital, where doctors declared Saima dead. Later, Nizam and Dilshad also died during treatment on Sunday. The police also checked their house in Roshan Nagar but no suicide note was found there.

Khushi said she wanted to take the children along with her, but her husband did not let her.
