Man gets 25-yr RI for raping minor

The court of Additional Sessions Judge Jasmine Sharma on Tuesday sentenced a convict to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a seven-year-old girl after kidnapping her. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the convict, failing to pay which he would have to suffer additional punishment.

The Palam Vihar police station received information on October 12 in 2021 about the rape of the minor. The police registered a case in the matter and arrested Krishna Singh Lodhi, a resident of Om Vihar Colony, and sent him to judicial custody. A chargesheet was filed in the court against him.

“On the basis of the chargesheet and the evidence and witnesses collected by the police, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Jasmine Sharma sentenced the convict to 25 years of RI and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him,” said a police spokesperson.

Man jailed for raping teen on pretext of marriage

The court of Additional Sessions Judge Jasmine Sharma on Tuesday sentenced a convict to 20 years of RI for kidnapping and raping a teenager on the pretext of marriage and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him.

The Bilaspur police station received information on February 18 in 2022 regarding the kidnapping of a 15-year-old girl. On the complaint, officials registered a case under Sections 363 and 366 of the IPC and began an investigation.

After a few days, the police recovered the girl and recorded her statement in the court. In her statement, the victim accused Vinod Kumar Verma of luring her on the pretext of marrying her and raping her. Following this, the police added Section 6 of the POCSO Act in the FIR. The police arrested Vinod and sent him to judicial custody.

Following this, the case was investigated by the police team and all the necessary evidence and witnesses were collected against him. A chargesheet was filed in the court. “Additional Sessions Judge Jasmine Sharma sentenced the convict to 20 years of RI and a imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him,” said a police spokesperson.
