The victim somehow managed to save his life and started working somewhere else after the incident took place 1.5 months ago.
He neither told anyone nor lodged a complaint with the police. However, a disturbing video of him being brutally beaten up went viral on social media, following which, the police registered a case without any formal complaint and arrested four persons.
According to the police, the incident reportedly took place on June 10 at the basement of an under-construction residential building in the Sector 37 C area of Gurugram. The video shows the victim tied and hung upside down as one of the accused beats him with a stick while others look on.
It is also being said that the police had already received the video, but the matter was being suppressed because one of the accused was being said to be close to a minister. However, the police denied it and said that they were investigating the matter.
The accused were identified as Pushpendra (39), a resident of Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh; Ajit Singh (38), a resident of Kharak Kalan village in Bhiwani; Krishan Kumar (19), a resident of Khandoda village in Rewari; and Amit Kumar (39), a resident of Khasa village in Amritsar district of Punjab.
The victim was a JCB driver at the site and is a resident of a village in Rajasthan. The police will soon record his statement.
“During police interrogation, it was revealed that all of the accused work as security guards at the under-construction society building. The person they beat up used to work as a JCB driver there. He had reportedly stolen electric wires from the site on June 10, which is why they thrashed him. They all are being questioned,” said a spokesperson for the Gurugram police.
