The visit was part of the ongoing campaign to make the national capital cleaner, greener and more livable under the recently formed “triple engine” BJP government.

Accompanied by Central Zone chairperson Sugandha Bidhuri, Deputy Commissioner Gurpal Singh and senior MCD officials, the Mayor conducted a detailed inspection of the village’s sanitation system and infrastructure. He directed officials to intensify cleanliness efforts, ensure regular spraying of anti-larval medicines to combat vector-borne diseases, clean the main drain of the village and repair connecting roads.

The Mayor also announced plans to beautify the village’s main connecting road and install street lights to eliminate dark spots.

“Special attention will be given to cleanliness and public health. Infrastructure strengthening is vital for Tughlakabad’s development and we will work swiftly in that direction,” Singh said.

Earlier, the Mayor engaged with residents to listen to their concerns. Responding to their demands, he assured that the possibility of constructing a community centre in the village would be explored. “The centre will serve as a hub for community activities and gatherings,” he said, reinforcing the MCD’s commitment to improving civic life in the area.

MP Bidhuri praised the Mayor’s proactive leadership, noting that development work has accelerated under the BJP-led triple engine government — at the Centre, state, and municipal levels. “The Mayor’s dedication and simplicity make him a favourite of the party’s top leadership,” Bidhuri said.

He also raised the issue of inadequate sanitation staff and resources in Tughlakabad. “The number of sanitation workers at present is insufficient. We need more staff and additional auto-tippers to ensure an efficient garbage collection system,” he said, urging speedy desilting of village drains ahead of the monsoon.

Bidhuri expressed confidence that the formation of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s Standing Committee will help secure necessary funds for sanitation upgrades. “The BJP’s triple-engine government will certainly give new wings to Delhi’s development,” he said.
