MC clears 112 km of encroachments in city

The City SP Zone of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) conducted a large-scale anti-encroachment drive, removing unauthorised structures and clearing public spaces across several key areas.

The operation, which took place from March 1 to March 24, targeted multiple locations, including Neeli Chhatri Mandir, Hanuman Mandir, Bela Road, Ram Kumar Marg, Jhandewalan Road and Rani Jhansi Road.

The joint effort, carried out by the General Branch, Building and Maintenance Departments of the City SP Zone, led to the removal of temporary structures such as jhuggis, makeshift shops and other obstructions. Areas such as HC Sen Marg, SRDC Road, Chandni Chowk, Shastri Nagar, Inderlok and Esplanade Road were among those cleared.

According to MCD officials, the drive resulted in the clearance of approximately 112 km of encroached areas. The authorities also seized 610 items and imposed fines totaling Rs 19,100 on violators.
