The authority is focusing on properties with outstanding dues of Rs 50,000 or more, as part of efforts to improve tax collection before the fiscal year ends, according to sources in the civic body. The total outstanding property tax dues are estimated between Rs 300 crore and Rs 350 crore, however, the authorities were yet to come out with the official figure. The property tax has been a prominent source of the income of the civic body, which relies on special grants from the state government for meeting its expenses.
