MCD cracks down on illegal spas, restaurants
The AAP-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a crackdown on illegal spas, restaurants and OYO hotels operating without proper licenses in the city.
While addressing a press conference at the MCD headquarters on Friday, Mayor Mahesh Kumar Khichi directed health officials to compile a list of such establishments within three days.
“These illegally operated establishments do not pay licensing fees, which leads to significant revenue losses for the corporation,” he stated.
Mayor Khichi announced that he met senior officials, including the Municipal Corporation’s health officer and all 12 zonal deputy health officers, to discuss the issue.
“Directions have been issued for strict action against these illegal establishments. All officials have been instructed to submit a list of such operations within two days,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Mayor Ravinder Bharadwaj and Leader of the House Mukesh Goel.
“Based on public complaints, the corporation will take the strictest possible action against illegal spas, OYO hotels and restaurants,” Khichi said.
He said unauthorised establishments not only violate regulations but also deprive the Municipal Corporation of rightful revenue. The Mayor instructed the Public Health Department to provide a detailed list of such businesses within the next three days so that legal action can be initiated.
