The civic body has launched a pilot project at Ramlila Maidan in Central Delhi to test the initiative.

According to officials, the pilot will run for fifteen days, during which feedback will be collected from users. Based on the response, the MCD plans to roll out a full-fledged QR code-based system for its parking sites across the city in several phases.

A senior MCD official said complaints about contractors overcharging motorists were frequent, prompting the introduction of this digital system.

Under the new system, motorists will have to enter their vehicle number upon parking and scan the same QR code when leaving. At the exit, they will receive two options to make the payment digitally.

The project aims to allow motorists to enter and exit parking areas seamlessly, without any staff intervention. Payments can be made easily through a mobile app after scanning the QR code.

The MCD expects this system to eliminate complaints of contractors charging more than the fixed rates.
